Welcome to barPOD GRADOM

Every tale has its beginning and the one of Bar Pod Gradom commences in the late 1970s when the original owners build a glass pavilion at the southern foot of the Mali Grad hill, on a meadow nestled between the medieval town center and suburb of Šutna. They transform the meadow into a pleasant garden shaded by mighty chestnut trees and connect the pavilion to a very old tunnel running across the Mali Grad hill. That is actually how the bar got its name, as the tunnel part of it is literally located in the rock under the castle – pod gradom.

During the next four and a half decades there are quite a few changes. The owners, staff and guests come and go but the essence of “Podgrad” remains and lives on. And what is it you might ask?

It’s the casual ambience in which people of all backgrounds and ages discuss everything and anything.

It’s the garden where you indulge in your beverage and snacks under the suns warmth or in the cool of a breeze.

It’s the summer evenings when you can barely find a place to watch the game in a euphoric atmosphere.

It’s the pavilion through the window walls of which you admire the first snowflakes of the winter.

It is Nada, the custodian of Podgrad's myths and legends.
